Could someone explain what the question mean by “mixed as above”?
“using half the data (i.e. 12,000 observations mixed as abvove)”

Each category (of shirt, t-shirt, sandal and sneaker) will take half of its total training sets, which is 3,000 observations for each. In total, 12,000 observations for mixed.
